Lush, serene, romantic- these are the first words that come to mind when I fondly recall my visit to El Dorado Seaside Suites. Perfect for the couple that wishes to be pampered, wined and dined in beautiful surroundings. Arrival - As soon as you enter the simple but welcoming lobby, a feeling of calm and understated luxury surrounds you, a “feng shei” if you will- your previous cares and worries just melt away. You are greeted by a host with a cold beverage and a cool towel to refresh yourself with. Guests are then directed to an area of individual desks offering a personalized and comfortable check in.
Grounds- As we explored the resort on the meandering paths shaded by towering palms, I noticed that each turn presented another nook and cranny designed for couples to enjoy each other’s company. There were bali beds and hammocks tucked into the lush gardens. The resort also offers welcoming public spaces where groups could gather such as the newly expanded Guacamaya’s Lounge. This open aired bar is centrally located and embraces the feel of the Caribbean with it’s thatched roof, amazing view of the ocean and swings built for one or two!
Upcoming projects - As I chatted with the general manager, Mr. John Kirwan, his enthusiasm for El Dorado Seaside Suites was infectious as he explained all the upcoming projects that were in store! The resort previously catered to smaller, intimate weddings and groups but will now be able to accommodatemid size weddings and groups of up to 100 ppl. The biggest issue was being able to accommodate these mid size-larger parties in case of “liquid sunshine”- and that is soon to be addressed with the building of a “just in case of rain” wedding and reception facility! At this time there is the newly expanded Vida Gardens Grill area that can accommodate for a banquet style dinner up to 50 ppl.
Just completed this past May 2009, were renovations to the beachfront Gazebo and a newly built reception area- with enough room to have dinner and dance in a tucked away private beachfront area. This is great also for those brides that want to be “on” the beach but still wear heels!
Another project that is in the works is expanding the pier with destination weddings in mind! At this time the pier gazebo can accommodate 120 guests. If you have a group larger than 50 people it’s advised to order tents with fold down sides in case of inclement weather!
Size & Ambiance - The resort itself is considered a smaller property in the Riviera Maya with only 280 jr suites & suites located along the beachfront and in the gardens. Suites range from garden view jr suites to swim up jr suites to the honeymoon suite! A total of 5 categories are available.
Suites - All the suites are large, include a Jacuzzi in suite for two,bathrobes, 24 hr room service, air conditioning, hair dryers, flat screen tv’s, DVD players, and complimentary safe deposit boxes. A stocked mini bar with soft drinks, water and beer. The Mexican architecture is complimented by the soft white décor with dark wood accent pieces. The majority of suites have romantic 4 poster king size beds with a handful of jr suites offering doubles. Activities - This resort truly has something for everyone, not just those on a honeymoon or anniversary vacation! While the resort oozes relaxation don’t worry that it’ll be a snooze- if you are a more active vacationer you won’t be bored to tears as the resort also offers beach volleyball, table tennis, snorkeling, kayaking, salsa lessons and aqua aerobics. The mile long beach features a great reef that offers very good snorkeling. It also features a fitness room. Daily and nightly entertainment and activities plus live music and shows from professional artists.

*Spa services ( additional fee) –many treatments designed for couples.
Weddings-
*Free weddings offered with a 7 night stay in a swim up suite or higher plus 15 additional room nights.
*2 weddings a day- at least two hours minimum apart
*Legal ceremonies are performed Monday - Friday /Symbolic 7 days a week ( excluding national holidays)
*Average weddings per month is 10-15 (weekdays usually there is one wedding a day)
*Children are not allowed on property at all.
*Weddings can range from standard affairs to proving special treats (such as ice cream sandwiches at the reception) to full out Mexican cocktail parties with a 10 piece Mariachi band! El Dorado Seaside Suites is very willing to work with you in making your wedding vision a reality.
